Leroy Gardner, a 38-year-old resident of Jamesport, died today (Monday, June 23, 2003) as the result of an automobile accident in rural Daviess County.

Leroy Gardner, a 38-year-old resident of Jamesport, died today (Monday, June 23, 2003) as the result of an automobile accident in rural Daviess County.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2003 at the Pitts Funeral Home in Breckenridge. There will be a cremation following the service.
Friends may call at the funeral home after noon until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25, 2003 and from 9 a.m. until service time on Thursday at the funeral home. There will be a family visitation from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, prior to the service.
Mr. Gardner was born on Nov. 22, 1964 in Macon, the son of Cliff and Darlene Tate Gardner. He was a 1983 graduate of Breckenridge High School, where he participated in basketball and softball. He had lived in the Jamesport area since 1990, where he was self-employed in farm construction and fence building. Prior to that he worked for C.W. Gardner Logging in Breckenridge. He raised cattle and loved spending time with his family, hunting and fishing.
He was married on June 9, 1990 at Breckenridge to Delana ?Lanie? Hancock. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include four daughters, Whitney, Timbre, Kyle and Chase Gardner of the home; his mother, Darlene Johnson and step-father, Ray, of Breckenridge; three brothers, Bo Gardner and David Wayne Gardner of Breckenridge and Phillip Gardner of Kansas City, KS; two sisters, Becky Grossman of Kalispell, MT, and Rhonda Mowell of Pleasant Hill; several nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Lynda ?Monna? Hancock of Trenton; and his father-in-law, Roy Hancock of St. Joseph.
Mr. Gardner was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Rita Morriss.
