Harley O. Whitt, an 84-year-old resident of Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton, died at 1:50 p.m. on Monday, June 16, 2003 at the nursing home, where he had resided since May 4, 2002.

Harley O. Whitt, an 84-year-old resident of Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton, died at 1:50 p.m. on Monday, June 16, 2003 at the nursing home, where he had resided since May 4, 2002.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 20, 2003 at the Tenth Street Baptist Church in Trenton. Burial will follow graveside rites at the Salem Cemetery, located northwest of Trenton.
A scheduled family visitation will be held form 7 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2003 at the Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home in Trenton. Masonic services will be held at 8 p.m.
Mr. Whitt was born on Aug. 25, 1919 at Melbourne, the son of Western and Mary Ellen Meek Whitt. He attended Brimson school and was associated with his father in the trucking business.
He was married Aug. 15, 1942 to Vonnie Louise Gordon. They lived in Florida all their married lives. She preceded him in death on Feb. 10, 1985. He married Shirley Gentry Ogle on Feb. 14, 1989 at Trenton, where they lived all their married lives.
Mr. Whitt was retired from the U.S Navy after 20 years of service and also worked for the Civil Service as an aviation metalsmith at the Jacksonville Naval Air Station for 34 years before retiring.
Mr. Whitt loved the Lord and enjoyed going to church when he was able. One of his greatest joys was helping others.
Mr. Whitt was a member of the Tenth Street Baptist Church, the Major Dale Stepp Post No. #31, American Legion in Trenton, a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge in Jacksonville, FL and a member of the Missouri Sheriff?s Association.
Mr. Whitt is survived by his wife, Shirley, of the Sunnyview Apartments in Trenton; three daughters, Shirley K. Jones, Zina Skinner and Linda L. Ray, all of Jacksonville, FL; a sister, Ruth Campbell of Trenton; two step-daughters Terri Reid of Trenton and Tana Ratliff of Greenwood; two grandchildren, Laura Ward and Paul Mosley; five step-grandchildren, Adrian and Dustin Cox, Brent Ratliff, Lesley Noland and Shawna Peacock; six great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren; four nephews, Brad and Gary Campbell of Trenton, David Campbell of Cedar Rapids, IA and Ronnie Whitt of Washington, D.C.; and one niece, Elaine Whitt of Trenton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, two brothers and two grandchildren.
