Jerry Lee Glidewell, a 60-year-old resident of Gladstone, died at 2:20 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2003 at North Kansas City Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past eight days. He had suffered an apparent heart attack while fishing.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2003 at the Payne Funeral Home in Galt. Brother Stan Richardson will officiate. Burial will be in the Union Grove Cemetery, north of Osgood, following military graveside rites.
A family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 o’clock tonight (Monday, June 16, 2003) at the funeral home.
Mr. Glidewell was born Sept. 5, 1942 at Osgood, the son of Nova “Doc” Glidewell Jr. and Helen Humphreys Glidewell. He moved to Chillicothe with his parents at a young age and attended Chillicothe schools, graduating from Chillicothe High School in 1960. He joined the U.S. Navy on June 1, 1960, serving until his honorable discharge on Sept. 4, 1963.
He was married to Jo Ann Sanders on Sept. 27, 1963 at Farley. They lived all their married lives in the Gladstone area. Mr. Glidewell was an electrician all his working life until he retired one and one-half years ago.
Mr. Glidewell is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Glidewell, of the home at Gladstone; two daughters, Keenan, now Mr.s Robert Baker of Gladstone and Tamara Glidewell of Olathe, KS; one brother, Gary Glidewell of Liberty; his step-father, Logan Leek of Liberty; and two grandchildren, Chad and Austin Barker.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Joy Sue.
