The Trenton Republican-Times has copies of “The Lewis and Clark Discovery Guide” for sale, with proceeds to benefit the local Newspapers In Education program.

“Missouri Life” magazine is publishing the guide, which follows the Lewis and Clark exploration along the Missouri River and includes detailed maps created by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The maps feature every campsite Lewis and Clark made along the river, showing the current river along with the course of the river in the mid-1800s.

Other items included include a full calendar of events, including major festivals and Lewis and Clark events through may 2004; a director of places to stay and great places to eat along the trail; colorful photos with a forward by the president of the National Council of the Lewis and Clark Bicenttenial; and an introduction by the historian of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Division of State Parks.

The guide is $4.50 and can be purchased at the newspaper during regular business hours, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
