Funeral services for Leta D. VanArsdale will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 31, 2003 at Lindley Funeral Home in Laredo. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Laredo.
A family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m., Friday, May 30, 2003, at the funeral home. Open visitation will be held from 1 to 9 p.m., Friday and from 8 a.m. until service time on Saturday.
Mrs. VanArsdale, an 88-year-old resident of Douglas, WY, died on Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at the Michael Manor Nursing Home in Douglas. She was a former Laredo resident.
Mrs. VanArsdale was born Oct. 7, 1914 in Mobeetie, TX, the daughter of John Goodlow and Una Dear Powell.
She was married to Courtlandt Frances “Van” VanArsdale on July 9, 1931 in Beaver, OK. He preceded her in death in 1985.
Mrs. VanArsdale lived in Wyoming for the past nine years prior to moving to the Trenton and Laredo areas. She was an avid traveler.
Mrs. VanArsdale is survived by two daughters, Doris Shaw and her husband, Bart, of Trenton, and Gwen Hunsicker of Douglas; a daughter-in-law, Velda Van Arsdale of Laredo; nine grandchildren, Bill Hunsicker of Douglas, Berry Hunsicker of Denver, CO, D.J. Hopkins of Ferrelview, Teresa Russell and Gerald Shaw of Trenton, Phillip Van Arsdale of Pennsylvania, Sonja Van Arsdale of Denmark, Cindy Crapper of Iowa Falls, IA and George Van Arsdale of Webber City, IA; 26 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Harvey VanArsdale, and a brother.
