Heidi Griswold, Andy Peterson Are Top Students At Grundy R-5

Heidi Griswold was named valedictorian and Andy Peterson was named salutatorian of the Grundy R-5 High School Class of 2003 during ceremonies Sunday afternoon in the high school gym at Galt.

Heidi Griswold was named valedictorian and Andy Peterson was named salutatorian of the Grundy R-5 High School Class of 2003 during ceremonies Sunday afternoon in the high school gym at Galt.

Miss Griswold is the daughter of Cecilia Griswold and Thomas Griswold and finished her high school career with a grade point average of 4.31708 on a 4.0 scale. She plans to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia, majoring in agriculture economics.

In her remarks, Miss Griswold talked about the ?footprints? left behind by the graduates, not only the ones that are most visible, such as grades, but those that are not so visible, such as friendships and traditions.

Among the awards she received during ceremonies were the Fred Crooks Memorial Scholarship of $1,000; the Ford Trucks/Built Tough-FFA Scholarship of $1,000; the Galt Lions Club Scholarship; the University of Missouri-Columbia College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources Scholarship, the Principal’s leadership Award Certificate of Merit, the American Citizenship Award the President?s Education Award, the Academic Excellence Award, the National Scholar/Athlete Award, the George Washington Carver Award, the College Preparatory Studies Certificate, a Certificate of Perfect Attendance for the 2002-2003 school year, a certificate of graduation from the U.S. House of Representatives, a certificate of achievement from the Missouri Senate, a certificate of recognition from the Missouri House of Representatives, was named semifinalist in the Coca-Cola Scholars Program and was recognized as a member of the National Honor Society.

Peterson is the the son of Brian and Barb Peterson and finished his career with a GAP of 4.30076 on a 4.0 scale. He plans to attend UMC, majoring in engineering.

Peterson reflected on what he will miss most about his high school years, but noted his excitement as to what lies ahead in the future. Both Peterson and Miss Griswold thanked their families, friends and teachers for all that they did for them throughout their education.

Among the honors and awards received by Peterson were the University of Missouri-Columbia Curators Scholar Award for $3,500, the Bright Flight Scholarship for $2,000, the University of Missouri-Rolla Alumni Scholarship for $1250, the UMR Curator?s Scholarship for $3,500, the Fred Crooks Memorial Scholarship for $1,000, the MFA Foundation Scholarship for $1,000, the Culver-Stockton College Hilltop Distinguished Scholarship, the Northwest Missouri State University Honors Scholarship, the National Scholar/Athlete Award, the President?s Education Award, the American Citizenship Award, the George Washington Carver Award, the College Preparatory Certificate, the Galt Lions Club Scholarship, the Academic excellence award, a certificate of graduation from the U.S. House of Representatives, a certificate of achievement from the Missouri Senate, a certificate of recognition from the Missouri House of Representatives, was named a national nominee for the Wendy??s High School Heisman Award and was recognized as a member of the National Honor Society.

Kevinn Allnutt – a certificate of recognition from the Missouri House of Representatives, a certificate of achievement from the Missouri Senate, a certificate of graduation from The U.S. House of Representatives and a Certificate of Credit from Grand River Technical School. He plans to work in construction and possibly attend North Central Missouri College in Trenton.

Katrina Berry – a certificate of recognition from the Missouri House of Representatives, a certificate of achievement from the Missouri Senate, a certificate of graduation from the U.S. House of Representatives, the Donnie Callen Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $100, the Northwest Missouri State University Merit Award in the amount of $500, the Northwest Missouri State University A-Plus Grant in the amount of $2,000, the Academic Excellence Award and the College Preparatory Studies Certificate. She was also recognized as a member of the National Honor Society. She will be attending Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, where she plans to major in psychology.

Jonathan Bingham – a certificate of recognition from the Missouri House of Representatives, a certificate of achievement from the Missouri Senate, a certificate of graduation from the U.S. House of Representatives, a Coca-Cola Scholarship in the amount of $100 and the Kirk Osborn Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $100. He was recongized as a member of the National Honor Society. He will be working full-time as well as attending North Central Missouri College in Trenton with the goal of becoming a conservation agent.

Kimberly Clark – a certificate of recognition from the Missouri House of Representatives, a certificate of achievement from the Missouri Senate, a certificate of graduation from the U.S. House of Representatives, the Academic Excellence Award, a Certificate of Credit from Grand River Technical School and the Milo Ruegsegger Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $200. She was also recognized as a member of the National Honor Society. She will be attending North Central Missouri College in Trenton majoring in office systems technology.

Amanda Curtis – a certificate of recognition from the Missouri House of Representatives, a certificate of achievement from the Missouri Senate, a certificate of graduation from the U.S. House of Representatives and a Certificate of Credit from Grand River Technical School. She was recognized as a member of the National Honor Society. She will be attending North Central Missouri College in Trenton to obtain a two-year medical assistant degree.

Angela Gott – a certificate of recognition from the Missouri House of Representatives, a certificate of achievement from the Missouri Senate, a certificate of graduation from the U.S. House of Representatives, the Academic Excellence Award, the Fred Crooks Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $1,000, the Donnie Callen Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $100, the Lee Cloyed Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $250, the Grundy R-5 CTA Scholarship in the amount of $250 and a scholarship to North Central Missouri College. She was recognized as a member of the National Honor Society. She will be attending North Central Missouri College in Trenton for two years before transferring to Missouri Western State College in St. Joseph to obtain a degree in elementary education.

Robbie Gott – a certificate of recognition from the Missouri House of Representatives, a certificate of achievement from the Missouri Senate, a certificate of graduation from the U.S. House of Representatives and a Certificate of Credit from Grand River Technical School. He plans to work in construction.

Kyle Graves – a certificate of recognition from the Missouri House of Representatives, a certificate of achievement from the Missouri Senate, a certificate of Graduation from the U.S. House of Representatives and a Certificate of Credit from Grand River Technical School. He will be working for a welding company.

Rachel Hill – a certificate of recognition from the Missouri House of Representatives, a certificate of achievement from the Missouri Senate, a certificate of graduation from the U.S. House of Representatives and a full tuition scholarship from Central Christian College of the Bible in the amount of $5,000 per year. She was also recognized as a member of the National Honor Society. She will be attending Central Christian College of the Bible in Moberly to pursue a degree in music ministry.

Sam Lake – a certificate of recognition from the Missouri House of Representatives, a certificate of achievement from the Missouri Senate, a certificate of graduation from the U.S. House of Representatives, a Certificate of Credit from Grand River Technical School and a certificate of enrollment into the Community College of the Air Force. He has enlisted in the United States Air Force and will begin his career on June 3. He has enrolled in the Community College of the Air Force, where he will be working toward an associate in applied science degree within the electronic systems technology field.

Melea May – a certificate of recognition from the Missouri House of Representatives, a certificate of achievement from the Missouri Senate, a certificate of graduation from the U.S. House of Representatives, the Academic Excellence Award, the College Preparatory Studies Certificate, alternate selection for the Lee Cloyed Memorial Scholarship and the NCMC Board of Trustees and NCMC Girls State scholarships. She was a 2002 national nominee for the Wendy?s High School Heisman Award and received recognition as a member of the National Honor Society. She will be attending North Central Missouri College in Trenton to obtain an associate of arts degree before transferring to Missouri Western State College in St. Joseph, where she plans to major in business.

Amy McClamroch -a certificate of recognition from the Missouri House of Representatives, a certificate of achievement from the Missouri Senate, a certificate of graduation from the U.S. House of Representatives, a Certificate of Credit from Grand River Technical School, the Academic Excellence Award, the Grundy R-5 Alumni Association Scholarship in the amount of $ 1,000 and the Rebekah Lodge and Grand River Technical School scholarship. She will be attending North Central Missouri College in Trenton for two years before transferring to a four-year college where she will major in accounting.

Annaka Meeker – a certificate of recognition from the Missouri House of Representatives, a certificate of achievement from the Missouri Senate, a certificate of graduation from the U.S. House of Representatives, Certificate of Credit from Grand River Technical School, the Grundy R-5 FCCLA Scholarship in the amount of $250, the Kirk Osborn Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $100 and the Indian Hills Retirement Village and Grand River Technical School scholarship in the amount of $250. She will be attending North Central Missouri College in Trenton for three years in order to obtain her degree as a registered nurse.

Adam Reeter – a certificate of recognition from the Missouri House of Representatives, a certificate of achievement from the Missouri Senate, a certificate of Graduation from the U.S. House of Representatives and a Certificate of Credit from Grand River Technical School. He will be entering the workforce.

Ryan Shippen – a certificate of recognition from the Missouri House of Representatives, a certificate of achievement from the Missouri Senate, a certificate of graduation from the U.S. House of Representatives, a Coca-Cola Scholarship in the amount of $100, the College Preparatory Studies Certificate and the Certificate of Perfect Attendance for the 2002-2003 school year. He was recognized as a member of the National Honor Society. He will be attending North Central Missouri College in Trenton.

Natosha Snidow – a certificate of recognition from the Missouri House of Representatives, a certificate of achievement from the Missouri Senate, a certificate of graduation from the U.S. House of Representatives, the Academic Excellence Award, the Donnie Callen Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $100, the Horatio Alger Missouri Scholarship in the amount of $2,500, a Truman State University A-Plus Scholarship in the amount of $1,500, a Truman State University Combined Ability Scholarship in the amount of $1,500, a scholarship to Graceland University and the College Preparatory Studies Certificate. She was recognized as a member of the National Honor Society. She will attend North Central Missouri College for two years before transferring to Graceland University, where she plans to major in communications.

Adam Tobin – a certificate of recognition from the Missouri House of Representatives, a certificate of achievement from the Missouri Senate and a certificate of graduation from the U.S. House of Representatives. He will continue training for the military and also plans to work in the real estate business.

Amelia Urich – a certificate of recognition from the Missouri House of Representatives, a certificate of achievement from the Missouri Senate, a certificate of graduation from the U.S. House of Representatives, the Fred Crooks Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $1,000, the College Preparatory Studies Certificate, a scholarship to North Central Missouri College and the Certificate of Perfect Attendance for the 2002-2003 school year. She was also recognized as a member of the National Honor Society. She will be attending North Central Missouri College in Trenton for two years before transferring to a four-year university.
