Harry E. Long, an 89-year-old resident of Chillicothe, died on Tuesday, May 13, 2003 at the Morningside Center in Chillicothe.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 16, 2003 at the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens at Chillicothe.
A family visitation is scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2003 at the funeral home. Friends may call after 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Thursday and from 8 a.m. until service time on Friday.
Mr. Long was born on Feb. 14, 1914 in Chillicothe, the son of Frank J. and Martha Ann Rosson Long. He was married on July 15, 1939 at Chillicothe to Doris L. Hinnen. She preceded him in death on Jan. 15, 1999.
Mr. Long was a farmer and worked in construction. He was a member of the Eversonville Baptist Church, the Chula Fire Department, the Chula Community Center and the Oddfellows Lodge. He was an alderman for the city of Chula and served on the Medicine Township Board.
Mr. Long is survived by two sons, Marvin Long of Sun City, AZ and Gerald Long of Chillicothe; one brother, Robert “Wayne” Long of California; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Oscar, Howard Wesley, Lawrence L., Charles E. and Webster L. Long; and two sisters, Brookisie Prephro and Roberta May Johnston.
