Mrs. Babe Williams, an 89-year-old resident of 1105 Harris Ave. in Trenton, died at 3:10 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2003 at the St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City, where she had been a patient since April 27, 2003.

Mrs. Babe Williams, an 89-year-old resident of 1105 Harris Ave. in Trenton, died at 3:10 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2003 at the St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City, where she had been a patient since April 27, 2003.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2003 at the Tenth Street Baptist Church. The Rev. Ron Ratliff will officiate. Burial will be in the South Evans Cemetery, east of Tindall.

A family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2003 at the Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home in Trenton.

Mrs. Williams was born on Aug. 2, 1913, at Blue Earth, MN, the daughter of Maynard and Bertha Newgard Sailor. She was raised at Blue Earth and graduated from high school there. She was employed at the Green Giant Canning Factory in Minnesota for a few years.

On Nov. 8, 1931, she was married to Cleda R. Williams at Fairmont, MN. He preceded her in death on Dec. 30, 1976. After their marriage, they moved to Spickard, where they farmed. They returned to Minnesota, where the lived until returning to Missouri in 1940. They farmed on farms at Galt, Meadville and Jamesport until they located on a farm near Laredo in 1947. They farmed in the Laredo community until Mr. Williams died. In 1978, Mrs. Williams moved into Trenton to make her home on Harris Avenue. While she lived in Trenton, she was employed by Hammond Laundromat until it closed. She then did seamstress and alteration sewing from her home until moving to Jefferson City a month ago to reside with her daughter due to failing health.

Mrs. Williams was an active member of the Tenth Street Baptist Church.

She is survived by one son, Cleda, and his wife, Joyce Williams of Harris; two daughters, Twila, and her husband, Merrill Callihan of Humphreys, and Shila, and her husband, Melvin Childs of Jefferson City; six grandchildren, Sharon Neff, Larry Williams, Martin Williams, Lisa Fisher, David Childs and Aaron Childs; five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband and parents, she was presented in death by an infant son, Maynard Marion Williams; three brothers; three sisters; and one grandson-in-law.

The family has suggested memorial contributions to either the Tenth Street Baptist Church or the South Evans Cemetery. These may be left at or mailed to the Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home at 813 Custer St., Trenton, MO 64683.
