The Jamesport City Council met Tuesday, agreeing to advertise for summer help, adopting a new employee policy manual and discussing the installation of new water meters and a fire hydrant.
According to information provided by City Clerk Carol Cass, Mayor J.E. Eckelberry advised the council that the new water meters are being installed and that a new fire hydrant has been installed at the intersection of Highways F and 190 near Hutch Bros. He also noted that the cleanup dumpster has been ordered, with arrival expected today. The gutter brush ordered on April 16 has still not been received.
Council members were told that the fire phone has been removed, with a message to anyone calling it referring them to call 911 for fire emergencies. Councilmembers agreed to advertise for temporary summer help, with the work to include some weekends. The new Employee Policy and Benefits Manual was adopted, retroactive to Jan. 1. A concerned citizens also advised the council that the city needs more stop signs, which the council will look into.
The next meeting is scheduled for 5:15 p.m., June 10.
