Robert E. Davis, a 90-year-old resident of Lee?s Summit, died Wednesday, April 30, 2003.
Graveside services will be held at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Trenton at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, May 3, 2003. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Langford Funeral Home in Lee?s Summit on Friday, May 2, 2003.
Mr. Davis was born on Feb. 17, 1913 in Green City, the son of Bernie and Mabel Davis. He was a teacher before joining the Missouri State Highway Patrol and graduated from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg with a degree in law enforcement. After serving 32 years, he retired as Captain of Troop H, St. Joseph, and returned to Lee?s Summit.
Mr. Davis is survived by his wife of 71 years, Dorothy M. Davis; a son, Eddie M. Davis and his wife, Helen, of Kansas City; a daughter, Beverly J. Cummins, and her husband, Jack, of Kansas City; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Kathryn Urton and her husband, Len, and Mary Moore, all of Trenton; and several nieces and nephews residing in this area.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the National Osteoporosis Foundation.
