An After Prom Party is being planned following this Saturday?s Trenton High School Prom activities.
Kindergarten Screenings May 22 and 23
The supervised party will be held from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. at the First Christian Church Activities Building. Students in grades nine through 12 are invited to the event, which is being sponsored by the church. For more information, persons may call Mark Morse at 359-6716.
Kindergarten screenings will be held May 22 and 23 for children in the Trenton R-9 School District.
The screenings will be offered for children who will be five years old before Aug. 1, with those students eligible to attend the R-9 kindergarten this fall.
The screenings will be conducted between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. at S.M. Rissler Elementary School, with the total screening time per child estimated at one hour and 15 minutes. Several documents are required for school enrollment including immunization record and a legal birth certificate (a hospital certificate is not an official document). A child?s social security number may be part of the school record, but it is not required. These documents, along with a proof of residency, will be checked the day of the child?s screening. Without these documents, students cannot be enrolled for the fall and parents are asked to check now to see that they have the required documents. Official birth certificates may be obtained through the health department.
Communication skills such as stating complete name, birthday, phone number, address and parents? name are part of the screening. Pre-academic readiness skills including numbers, letters, colors, shapes, cutting and pencil skills will be assessed. The children will also be asked to complete self-care tasks such as tying shoes, zipping coats and buttoning pants.
Students will be enrolled in Summer School Jump Start at the time of the screening. Parents should call Rissler School at 359-2228 to schedule an appointment.
