Offices at North Central Missouri, including the Ketcham Community Center, were open today after college officials and local law enforcement established no new or unusual findings in a search of the campus made after a bomb threat was received at the college on Wednesday.
Director of Public Relations Steve Maxey said faculty and staff returned to the college today, but no classes were held as had previously been announced. Students are expected to return to campus on Sunday, with classes scheduled to resume on Monday.
Other activities originally scheduled for the remainder of the week will still take place as planned, Maxey said. CAAP Exit Testing scheduled for today and Saturday was moved to the Fellowship Hall of the First Christian Church and officials announced those plans to remain in place.
Meanwhile, law enforcement officials are continuing their investigation into the incident, which occurred shortly before noon on Wednesday. A male left a message at the college’s main switchboard that three bombs were scheduled to explode on campus at 8 o’clock on Thursday. A search of the campus on Wednesday night, which included use of three bomb-sniffing dogs, turned up nothing of a suspicious nature and it was determined that there were no bombs on the college grounds.
According to the Trenton Police Lt. Rex Ross, the investigation is still ongoing and police officers are following several leads. He said that while an arrest is not imminent at this time, information is still being received and that there have been some “good leads” in connection with the investigation.
