Jackie Ray Hampton, a 64-year-old resident of Chula, died Sunday, April 6, 2003 at Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2003 at the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Burial will be in the Rickett Cemetery at Chula.
There is no scheduled family visitation. Friends may call after 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8, 2003 and from 8 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Hampton was born Jan. 19, 1939 in Chillicothe, the son of Orville and Rosie Graves Hampton. He was married in Chillicothe on Aug. 3, 1957 to Virginia Childers, who preceded him in death on March 12, 2000.
Mr. Hampton enjoyed hunting, fishing and mushroom hunting.
Mr. Hampton is survived by his mother, Rosie Hampton of Chillicothe; two sons, Terry Hampton of Chula and Tim Hampton of Pekin, IL; two daughters, Cathy Gillespie of Chula and Debbie Batson of Chillicothe; two brothers, Jim Hampton of Mercer and John Hampton of Chillicothe; a sister, Shirley Hampton of Chillicothe; six grandchildren, Chris Batson of Chillicothe, Shane Gillespie of Breckenridge, Jeff Gillespie of Chillicothe, Scott Hampton of Chillicothe, Nathan Hampton of Chillicothe and Amanda Hampton of Galt; and two great-grandchildren, Tiffany and Spencer Gillespie, both of Chillicothe.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his father.
