Mrs. Doris Virginia Steele, a 79-year-old resident of 203 Ellison St. in Trenton, died at 4:40 a.m. on Sunday, March 23, 2003 at her home after an extended illness from ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

Mrs. Doris Virginia Steele, a 79-year-old resident of 203 Ellison St. in Trenton, died at 4:40 a.m. on Sunday, March 23, 2003 at her home after an extended illness from ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
A memorial service is planned for 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26, 2003 at the First Baptist Church in Trenton.
Mrs. Steele was born on June 22, 1923 in Paris, IL, the daughter of Robert and Gertrude Jewel McGuinn. She was the last surviving child of 13 children.
Mrs. Steele was active in the First Baptist Church in Trenton and was a graduate of North Central Missouri College. She and her husband Hugh, were married in 1951 in Chicago, IL and relocated to the Trenton area in 1952.
Mrs. Steele served as a substitute teacher and election judge. Among her activities within the First Baptist Church were WMU president, Sunday school teacher, Bible school director and attending mission trips to South Dakota and Mexico. She also enjoyed gardening and outdoor life.
Mrs. Steele is survived by her husband, Hugh Steele, of the home; one daughter, Twila Hindery of Kansas City; two sons, David Steele of Kansas City and Lyle Steele of New York, NY; two grandchildren, Andrea Hindery of Lawrence, KS and Justin Hindery of Portland, OR; and one great-grandson, Corbin Hindery of St. Joseph.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
