Betty Kay Haymaker, a 57-year-old resident of Mercer, died Friday, March 21, 2003 at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, IA.

Mrs. Haymaker had been hospitalized at the care center since receiving serious injuries in an auto accident in February 2000 in Mercer County.

The body was cremated under the direction of the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Service of Princeton. Graveside memorial services will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Haymaker was born on June 12, 1945 in Kansas City, the daughter of Harold and Paula Ballyntine Oiler. She was raised in Lamoni, IA and graduated from Lamoni High School and the American School of Beauty in Des Moines. She was a former cafeteria employee at Graceland College in Lamoni. She was a member of the Community of Christ Church near Pleasanton, IA.

Mrs. Haymaker was married on July 12, 1974 to Manvel Wesley Haymaker, who preceded her in death on June 21, 2001. She had been a resident of Mercer since her marriage in 1974.

Mrs. Haymaker is survived by one daughter, Lila Barlow and her husband Patrick of Erie, PA; one son, Wesley Haymaker of Mercer; a brother, Larry Oiler and his wife, Lila, of Lamoni; her father, Harold Oiler of Lamoni; and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her mother.
