Velma P. Corbin, a 91-year-old resident of Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton, died at 9:10 p.m. on Monday, March 17, 2003 at the nursing home.

Velma P. Corbin, a 91-year-old resident of Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton, died at 9:10 p.m. on Monday, March 17, 2003 at the nursing home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2003 at the Resthaven Mortuary, north of Trenton. Rev. Harry Clifton will officiate. Burial will be in the Resthaven Gardens, north of Trenton.
There is no scheduled family visitation planned.
Mr. Corbin was born on March 27, 1911 on a farm near Laredo, the daughter of George and Rosa Tharp Hammons. She graduated from Laredo High School and was baptized at an early age at Liberty Chapel Church.
Mrs. Corbin was married at Trenton on April 11, 1936 to John Corbin. He preceded her in death on Nov. 12, 1976. He operated the Maxwell-Corbin Truck and Transfer Company. In 1939, the couple moved to a farm near Newtown to help Mr. Corbin’s parents after his father was injured by horses. Mrs. Corbin worked as a farm wife and mother. She had a large garden and loved flowers. They lived at the farm until they moved to Trenton in March 1966.
She was a member of the Liberty Chapel Church.
Mrs. Corbin is survived by a daughter, Lena Lefever of Trenton; one grandson, David Callihan and his wife, Gena, of Humphreys; two great-grandchildren, Beth and Brian Callihan of Humphreys; a niece, Nancy Ellis of Trenton; and two cousins, Erma Kinnison of Kansas City and Goldie Wampler of Hale.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gilbert Hammons.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Wright Memorial Hospice or the American Heart Association.
