Mrs. Frances F. Travis, a 92-year-old resident of Oskaloosa, KS and former resident of Spickard, died Sunday morning, March 16, 2003 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence, KS.

Mrs. Frances F. Travis, a 92-year-old resident of Oskaloosa, KS and former resident of Spickard, died Sunday morning, March 16, 2003 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence, KS.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at the Wise and Slater Funeral Chapel in Spickard. Pastor Brad Bruns will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton.
A family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2003 at the funeral chapel.
Mrs. Travis was born on July 8, 1910 in Shelby County, IA, the daughter of William Alexander and Lillie Mabel Atkinson Leytham. She attended Spickard schools. She lived in Mercer and Grundy counties most of her life and had been a resident of Oskaloosa for about four years. Mrs. Travis worked at the Spickard Canning Factory and later operated the Travis Cafe in Spickard. She was a member of the Worldwide Church of God at Kirksville and St. Joseph.
Mrs. Travis was married Oct. 18, 1929 at Trenton to Oren “Bud” Travis. He died on Nov. 7, 1986.
Survivors include two daughters, Joan Alcala and her husband, Leonard, of Oskaloosa, KS and Jean McCullock of Payson, UT; one son, Justin Travis and his wife, Dixie, of Raytown; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Eleanor Lavely of Mercer.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; six sisters, Gladys Middaugh, Hazel Tharp, Ester Shira, Marie Lavely, Jane Betz and Twyla Leytham; and three brothers, James Leytham, Herbert Leytham and Harold Leytham.
