Edward Gardner, a 73-year-old resident of Gallatin and former resident of Laredo, died Sunday morning, March 16, 2003 at the Heartland East Hospital in St. Joseph.

Edward Gardner, a 73-year-old resident of Gallatin and former resident of Laredo, died Sunday morning, March 16, 2003 at the Heartland East Hospital in St. Joseph.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2003 at the Resthaven Mortuary, north of Trenton. Burial will be in the Resthaven Gardens, north of Trenton, with military graveside rites to follow. There is no scheduled family visitation.
Mr. Gardner was born on July 23, 1929 in Grundy County, the son of Riley Ernie and Thelma Juanita Broyles Gardner. He was raised in the Edinburg and Brimson area. He served in the U.S. Army with the 17th Infantry. He was employed at Trenton Foods from 1952-1992.
Mr. Gardner is survived by one son, James Gardner of Monroeville, PA; a daughter, Tonya, now Mrs. Carl Simmons of Gallatin; two brothers, Glenn Niles Gardner and Leslie Gail Gardner, both of Midwest City, OK; and five sisters, Iona Tunnell and Thelma Ellis, both of Trenton, Leota Tew of Bothan, AL, Vivian Ruhl of Yearnington, NV and Mavis Edmonds of Spartenburg, SC.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Carla Sue Gardner.
