The Finance Committee of the Trenton City Council met Tuesday, discussing the capital budget for the 2003-2004 city budget.

City Administrator Kerry Sampson said the administrative committee had sent its recommendations concerning the street program, which looks fairly typical, he said, with about $200,000 in the budget for overlays, chip and seal and routine maintenance. Sampson noted that in 1992-1993, the combined operations and capital budget for the city was about $500,000 and the city is now spending about $1 million through operations and capital for the street department.

Other items planned for inclusion in the capital budget include one police car and Sampson said the city plans to look at used vehicles to replace the animal control vehicle and the fire chief?s car. Sampson also noted that the funding level for OATS and demolition projects will remain about the same. Sampson also said there was a lot of discussion about computer needs and a committee has been formed to make recommendations.

The Finance Committee will meet again at noon, Friday, March 21 at City Hall to discuss the operations budget.
