Virgil L. Roberts, a 64-year-old resident of Trenton, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2003 at the Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2003 at Wise and Slater Funeral Chapel in Spickard. Ferman Hostetler will officiate. Burial will be in the Spickard Masonic Cemetery.
Family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday, March 12, 2003) at the funeral home.
Virgil L. Roberts was born on Oct. 9, 1938 in Mercer County, the son of Lester W. and Maude M. Dean Roberts. He attended Mercer and Putnam County schools. He was a retired farmer. He had been a resident of Grundy County since 1946. Mr. Roberts was a member of the Cornerstone Fellowship Church. On May 7, 1973, he was married to Clara Mae Hickman at Spickard.
Mr. Roberts is survived by his wife, Clara Mae, of the Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Roberts was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Helen Parsons and Juanita Beal; and six brothers, Clifford, Lester, Harold, Wilbur, Herschel and Bobby Lee Roberts.
