Laredo Council Meeting
The Laredo City Council held its regular meeting Monday night, discussing the water tower projects and setting a special meeting.
City Clerk Joyce Stimpson said the council met with Dick Rhodes, an engineer, who said he has been looking into the city submitting an application for funding for a new water tower. Rhodes said he feels that, rather than a water tower, a standpipe would meet the city?s need. The estimated cost of the project was $236,650. Mrs. Stimpson said the city plans to apply for a Community Development Block Grant for the water tower or standpipe and is also planning to seek a CDBG for demolition of certain properties.
A special meeting to consider proposals for administration/grant writing was set for 6 p.m., March 25 at City Hall, with the next regular meeting scheduled for April 10.
