The Pleasant View R-6 Board of Education discussed financial issues and agreed to seek bids for ceiling tiles during a meeting held Tuesday night.

Superintendent Dr. Lynn Kowalski said it had been estimated that the district could lose approximately $37,373 in funding for FY03, however, with the Governor and legislature still working on the funding formula, it could be less than that amount. Also discussed was the projection from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education for the FY04 budget, which would result in no increase in funding or perhaps a slight decrease.

In other business, the board discussed the district?s recognition as being in the top 10 in the state in math and reading scores on the MAP test, with qualifies the district for an MSIP waiver. That means that instead of having a full MSIP review, the district will undergo a much smaller visit on Feb. 20.

A draft copy of the emergency management plan was reviewed, with revisions to be made prior to final approval. Dr. Kowalski said it was thought that the water bill for the school might be higher than it should be, but after reviewing bills for the past year and a half, it was decided they are actually in line with past months. Board members discussed replacing the refrigerator and agreed to seek bids for the replacement of ceiling tiles in the cafeteria and library.

An executive session was held to discuss personnel, with no announcement made.

The next regular meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 11.
