The Jamesport City Council met Tuesday night, approving bids for the public restroom construction at City Hall.

After a motion by Leona Waterbury to scale down the size of the planned restrooms to lower the cost failed, the council approved a bid from Turner Brothers Construction for material and labor for the project at a cost of $32,074.84, and two bids from Davis Plumbing and Heating for $8,057.20 for plumbing and fixtures and $3,923.90 for air conditioning and heating. All three bids were accepted on 3-1 votes, with Mrs. Waterbury voting no on each bid.

In other business, the board discussed the status of the Jamesport Water Improvements Proposal, which will be reviewed by the Department of Natural Resources in February, and discussed ways to stop the loss of water by keeping good records, replacing meters, flushing hydrants, etc. The board also voted to have a daily checklist of required duties of employees, which will be kept and turned in with time cards.

The next regular meeting is scheduled for March 11.
