Princeton, Spickard Councils Meet
The Princeton and Spickard city councils met Tuesday night, with the Princeton council hiring a firm to clean wells and the Spickard council hiring a city attorney.
Princeton
According to City Clerk Keri Stamper, the Princeton City Council met with Paul Brotcke of Brotcke Well and Pump to discuss iron buildup in the lines from city wells, which causes the wells to not pump at capacity. The company will be paid $54,000 to clean the lines.
Council members also approved two resolutions leasing alleyways. One resolution involved a 10-year lease to Missy McDaniel for an alleyway running east and west south of her lot on Elm Street. The other resolution involved the five-year lease of an alleyway to Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Home, with the alley running east to west near the business on Broadway Street. Both Ms. McDaniel and the funeral home will pay $1 per year for the leases.
In other business, the council voted to advertise for the rental of the current city hall, located at 604 Main Street, as the city offices are moving to a new location at 507 W. Main St. The move should be complete next week.
The next regular council meeting is scheduled for March 6.
Spickard
The Spickard City Council took little action during its meeting, agreeing to re-hire the city attorney for another year.
According to City Clerk DeAnn Olson, the council agreed to retain John Young as city attorney for the coming year. Young will be paid a $500 retainer.
The next council meeting will be held March 4 at which time Mrs. Olson said plans are to have a preliminary budget prepared for review.
