Lennie H. Thompson, a 91-year-old resident of Iberia, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003 at the Miller County Care Center at Tuscumbia after an extended illness.

Lennie H. Thompson, a 91-year-old resident of Iberia, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003 at the Miller County Care Center at Tuscumbia after an extended illness.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Brays Advent Christian Church near Iberia at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 7, 2003. Rev. Earl Skidds, church pastor will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The body is at the Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia where there will be a family visitation on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003 from 4 to 8 p.m.

Mrs. Thompson was born near Iberia on Jan. 24, 1912, the daughter of T.B. and O’dessa Humphrey Whitaker. She graduated from the Iberia Junior College and Kirksville State Teachers College and taught in public schools for 45 years, retiring from the Waynesville school system. She was married April 27, 1935 to Wayne Thomspon. He preceded her in death in March 1992. She had lived in the Iberia community most of her life. She was a member of the Brays Church and the Retired Teachers Association.

Mrs. Thompson is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Joyce Bornkamp of Rockford, IL; four sisters, Mrs. Velma Welch of Dixon, Mrs. Erma Williams of Eldon, Mrs. Gladys Slone of Tuscumbia and Mrs. Edith Duckworth of Liberty; three brothers, Calvin Whitaker of Iberia, Archie Whitaker of Dixon and Leo Whitaker of Trenton; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
