Viola McKay, an 82-year-old resident of 1747 Lakeside Terrace in Trenton, passed away early Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003 at the St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City.

Viola McKay, an 82-year-old resident of 1747 Lakeside Terrace in Trenton, passed away early Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003 at the St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003 at the Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home in Trenton. Rev. Daryl Mayfield will officiate. Burial will be in the Galt West Cemetery at Galt.

A scheduled family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003 at the funeral home.

Mrs. McKay was born on Feb. 21, 1920 near Galt, the daughter of Orville Curtis Sr. and Linnie Willis Ralls. She attended and graduated from Galt High School in 1937. She attended NWS University and Truman University and taught school for two years in Grundy County. She was employed for several years for the United States Government as a dental technician. On May 7, 1939 she was married to Gene McKay at Browning. They spent most of their married lives in the Columbia and Springfield areas where Mr. McKay was employed by the MFA Oil Company. After he retired they moved to Trenton, where they owned and operated Gene’s MFA Service Station for 17 years.

Mrs. McKay was also a cashier for Lowery Brothers Auction Company for 27 years. Mr. McKay preceded her in death on Dec. 13, 1988. Mrs. McKay was a member of the First Christian Church; Parsons Chapter #189 Order of the Eastern Star, serving as District Deputy Grand Matron in 1963; Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post #919; Wright Memorial Hospital Auxiliary; Grundy County Museum; Riverside Country Club; and the Trenton Area Chamber of Commerce. She was also an honorary member of the North Missouri Saddle Club.

Mrs. McKay is survived by one daughter; Linda Robertson of Muskego, WI; one daughter-in-law, Sharon McKay of Independence; one sister, Peachie Wilson of Trenton; two brothers, Edgar Ralls of Trenton and O.C. Ralls of Wichita, KS; two granddaughters, Lacey and Chanelle Robertson of Dallas, TX; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. McKay was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Gregory Gene and Robert Curtis McKay; two brothers; and three sisters.

The family has suggested that memorial contributions be made to the Wright Memorial Home Health or the Cancer Action of Kansas City. These may be left at or mailed to the Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home at 813 Custer, Trenton, MO 64683.
