Chillicothe?s experience proved too much for the Trenton High School wrestling team on Tuesday night as the Bulldogs struggled to find wins. The Hornets beat Trenton, 66-6.

Senior Matthew Chambers earned Trenton?s lone victory when he pinned Calvin Vadnais in 56 seconds.

?I was happy Matthew was able to win his last match at home,? Head Coach Bill Hill said.

Trenton lost five matches by a total of 17 points, including three matches by three points or less. The Bulldogs also had one wrestler not make weight.

?Chillicothe has a very strong team this season, but there were eight winnable matches,? Hill said. ?We just couldn?t find a way to win the matches we had to have.?

Junior Andy Cox lost a tough 6-4 decision to Shawn Trager. The pair entered the third period tied with four points each, but Trager was able to earn a two-point reversal late in the match.

?Andy wrestled a tough match,? Hill said. ?He looked good on the mat; he just could not pull out the win.?

Tyler Tolle led his match heading into the third period but could not hold on as he lost to Michael Marriott, 7-4.

Senior Zach Plumb also lost a close match late. Plumb entered the third quarter tied at 2-2 with Nathaniel Skipper. Plumb fell late in the third period, 4-2.

Freshman Justin Hendricks found himself down 9-0 to start his match with R.B. Quinn. Hendricks cut the lead to 9-6 midway through the third period but could not pickup the win as he lost, 12-6.

Sophomore Cody McCollum also lost a tough match at 189 pounds to Keith Minnis. McCollum surrendered four points in the final period in his 8-4 loss.

With Jesse Meek being unable to make weight at 152, junior Brent Stevens was pressed into action from the junior varsity squad. He was pinned by Chris Earley at 1:46 in the first period.

The Bulldogs head to Bethany on Thursday to take on South Harrison in the team?s last dual of the season. Trenton is also entered in the Maryville Tournament this Saturday.
