Edith M. Cooksey, a 97-year-old resident of Trenton, passed away at 1:45 a.m. on this morning (Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003) at Eastview Manor Care Center in Trenton, where she had been a resident for the past four years.

Edith M. Cooksey, a 97-year-old resident of Trenton, passed away at 1:45 a.m. on this morning (Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003) at Eastview Manor Care Center in Trenton, where she had been a resident for the past four years.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003 at the Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Trenton.
General visitation will begin after 8 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 24, 2003. There will be a family visitation one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Cooksey was born on Aug. 24, 1905 at Laredo, the daughter of Oliver T. and Zena Strait Brewer. She was married to Ray E. Cooksey on Oct. 20, 1923. He preceded her in death on Jan. 30, 1978. After their marriage they lived on their farm in the Edinburg community for 48 years before moving to Trenton in 1990. She was a member of the Laredo Baptist Church and the Edinburg Extension Club.
Mrs. Cooksey is survived by one son, Robert Cooksey of Trenton; one daughter, Lois Morrison of Colorado Springs, CO; one brother, Harold Brewer of Sedalia; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; as well as many other family and friends.
Mrs. Cooksey was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Etta Pettengill and Myrtle Terry; two brothers, Cecil Brewer and Virgil Brewer.
The family has suggested that memorial contributions be made to the Dockery Chapel or the Ronald McDonald House. These may be left at the mortuary.
