Funeral services for Carol Sue Young, a 72-year-old resident of rural Green City, will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003 in the Glenn E. Kent & Son Funeral Chapel in Green City. Rev. Robert Darby will officiate.
Music will be furnished by Audrey Jones, Elaine Frazier and Leroy Martin, vocalists, and Mary Susan Scott, organist. Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery east of Green City.
The casket bearers will be Kevin Michael, Brandon Lewis, Barry Young, Mike Slaughter, Joey Carter and Bob Born.
The honorary bearers will be Dustin McClaran, Mike Winter and Phil Gerleman.
Mrs. Young passed away on Monday, Jan. 20, 2003 at Northeast Regional Hospital in Kirksville.
Mrs. Young was born on Feb. 10, 1930 in Trenton, the daughter of Churchill and Hazel Orr Keen. On Dec. 10, 1960 in Trenton she married Billie Wayne Young, who survives. She was raised in the Trenton area and graduated from Trenton High School in 1947. She was employed with Missouri Public Service and with Southwestern Bell. She was a member of the Eastern Star Parsons Chapter 189 in Trenton, Beta Sigma Phi, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Prairie Chapel United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Young is survived by her mother, Hazel Keen of Trenton; three daughters, Vikki Miller Yesser and her husband, Paul, of Bend, OR, Jonna Vencill Michael of Milan and Barbara Young Lewis and her husband, Randy, of Quincy, IL; two sons, Gary Young and his wife, Mary, of Memphis and Larry Young and his wife, Jackie of Kansas City; two sisters, Sonna Winter and her husband, Ed, of Jefferson City and Sharon Ferris of Trenton; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Young was preceded in death by her father and one brother-in-law, Joe Ferris.
