The Green Hills Community Action Agency has received funding from the Missouri Housing Development Commission?s Housing Trust Fund to construct four housing units in Trenton, Chillicothe and Bethany.

Two of the structures will be in Trenton and both will have three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Executive Director Don Warren said both structures will be a universal design, meaning they could easily be converted into handicapped-accessible units. Both structures, as well as the ones in Chillicothe and Bethany, will be made available to low-income renters once the work is completed. One of the units at Trenton, which was funded by a Community Development Block Grant in the amount of $108,154, is a single-family structure while the second, which received $119,204 in CDBG funds, is a two-unit complex. The units will be located on lots at Sixth and Linn streets and 13th and Normal streets.

The Chillicothe project is a two-unit structure which received $227,740 in block grant funds. The three-unit structure in Bethany was funded with a grant of $340,410. A total of 87 programs received $5.2 million from housing trust fund.

In addition, the CAA received $120,000 in funds to help rehabilitate existing homes currently occupied by the elderly. The money will cover the costs to rehabilitate, weatherize, reduce lead risk and make accessibility improvements in the counties of Grundy, Mercer, Livingston, Linn, Harrison, Daviess, Caldwell, Putnam and Sullivan.
