The Grundy County Friends of the Arts will present a unique concert at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Trenton at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 19.

The Lyric Duo, consisting of lyric soprano Eva Peng and pianist Anthony Olson, will share an exciting program that includes works by George Gershwin and other American composers alongside songs from China and Europe.

Eva Peng and Anthony Olson formed the Lyric Duo shortly after their marriage in order not to be separated in the pursuit of their solo careers. Since then, they have toured as a duo in the United States as well as central and southern China.

Their appearance in Trenton is part of the celebration of the Good Earth art exhibit which will be on display at the North Central Missouri College Dorris Ryder Art Gallery Jan. 15 to Feb. 15. The Good Earth exhibit features folk art and artifacts from the Chinese countryside; to compliment this unique art exhibit, the Lyric Duo will feature several pieces of Chinese music.

Both members of this duo are distinguished soloists. Ms. Peng has had performances broadcast on numerous radio and television stations in her native China. Following one of her nationally televised concerts as soloist with the Canton Symphony Orchestra, she became a featured cover story personality in China?s ?TV Guide.? Olson has performed solo and chamber music concerts throughout the western United States, and has had live performances broadcast on National Public Radio.

Deeply committed to bringing the world?s finest vocal and piano repertoire to audiences of all ages and experience, they have captivated both new and experienced listeners alike through unique programming and high quality performances.

The Wesley United Methodist Church is located at Ninth and Washington streets. The concert is free to Grundy County Friends of the Arts ticketholders and NCMC students. General admission is $5 at the door.

The evening is sponsored by Grundy County Friends of the Arts Council and partially funded with a grant from the Missouri Arts Council.
