RPC Terminates Director, Planner

The Green Hills Regional Planning Commission Board of Directors has announced it has voted not to renew the contract of Executive Director Michael Johns and has terminated the employment of Community Planner Denise Stottlemyre.

The Green Hills Regional Planning Commission Board of Directors has announced it has voted not to renew the contract of Executive Director Michael Johns and has terminated the employment of Community Planner Denise Stottlemyre.

Action was taken during an executive session held Dec. 19 in Trenton following the board?s regular monthly meeting.

According to information provided by the RPC, the vote to release Johns and Ms. Stottlemyre was unanimous among the 17 board members present. There are 33 members of the RPC Board.

Johns and Ms. Stottlemyre had been on a 60-day paid leave from the commission since Oct. 19. Johns was under contract to the commission through Dec. 31 and board members voted to not renew a new contract that would have taken effect on Jan. 1. Ms. Stottlemyre?s dismissal will also take effect on Dec. 31.

Randy Railsback has been serving as interim executive director of the commission since Oct. 19. Applications are currently being taken for the position of executive director.

The RPC works with local and county officials on matters of economic development and governmental issues. Counties that are part of the Green Hills RPC include Grundy, Mercer, Livingston, Linn, Daviess, Harrison, Putnam, Sullivan, Carroll and Chariton.
