Reuben Sprouse, an 83-year-old resident of Trenton, passed away at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002 at the Indian Hills Retirement Village in Chillicothe.

Reuben Sprouse, an 83-year-old resident of Trenton, passed away at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002 at the Indian Hills Retirement Village in Chillicothe.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 30, 2002 at the Resthaven Mortuary in Trenton. Burial will be at the Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Trenton.

There will be an open visitation beginning on Saturday, Dec. 28.

Mr. Sprouse was born on Feb. 17, 1919, the son of Dellie S. and Emma Arms Sprouse in Bybee, TN. He moved to Missouri at the age of five and lived on a farm in the Ludlow area. After serving in the United States Army during World War II, he farmed in the Sampsel area. In 1953, he became an over-the-road truck driver for Groendyke Transport Company of Enid, OK, retiring after 23 years of service to the company. On Aug. 10, 1957, he was united in marriage to Juanita Worley in Trenton and spent the rest of his life in Trenton. He was a member of the Edinburg Baptist Church.

Mr. Sprouse is survived by his wife of the home; one son, Gary Sprouse and his wife, Kay, of Dawn; three daughters, Barbara Long of Capatola, CA, Phebe Sue Davis of Greenwood and Darla Joe Peterie of Raytown; one sister, Juanita Tye of Dawn; 17 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Mr. Sprouse was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Taft Sprouse; one sister, Amanda Gaston; and two grandsons, Shawn Wayne Sprouse and Randy Long.

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that memorial contributions may be made to the Monroe Cemetery at Ludlow. These may be left at the funeral home.
