Byron Faden, a 74-year-old resident of 1745 Skier Point in Trenton, passed away at 10:32 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002 at his residence.
The body was cremated and a memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002 at the Resthaven Mortuary in Trenton. Rev. Daryl Mayfield will officiate. Inurnment of the cremains will be held at a later date at Princeton, KS.
Mr. Faden was born on March 12, 1928 at Richmond, KS, the son of John and Edith Funk Faden. He gradauted from Princeton, KS High School in 1946. He served his country in the United States Navy from 1946 until his discharge in 1948. Most of that time was spent in the South Pacific. On Nov. 7, 1948 he was married to Carolyn Pennell at Olathe, KS. He gradauted from Mohler Barber College in 1949 and was a barber at Ottawa, KS for 30 years. He left barbering and started working at Bridge’s Sport Center and later he and three friends bought the business and he was the manager. In 1986, he sold his part of the business and moved to Trenton. He was the manager of the Riverside Country Club for two years and worked at the Elks Lodge for two years. In 1990 he became an antique dealer in Jamesport and operated Byrons Antiques in the Balcony House Mall. While in Ottawa, KS he coached “Babe Ruth” league baseball for several years and followed the Ottawa High School and Ottawa University athletics. He was honored for his loyal support of the Ottawa Braves during their 1998 Hall of Fame Ceremony. He was a member of the Riverside Country Club and the Trenton B.P.O.E. Lodge #801.
Mr. Faden is survived by his wife, Carolyn Faden of the home in Trenton; one brother, Charles Faden of Holiday Island, AR; three nieces, Janet Blachly of Olathe, KS, Pamela Mayes of Divide, Co and Rexann Dunn of Bailey, CO.
Mr. Faden was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Rebecca Shelden.
The family has suggested that memorial contributions be made to the First Christian Church or the Wright Memorial Hospice. These may be left at or mailed to the Resthaven Mortuary at P.O. Box 587, Trenton, MO 64683.
