Robert R. “Bob” Bailey, a 76-year-old lifelong resident of Trenton, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2002 at the Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002 at the Wesley Methodist Church in Trenton. Rev. Barry Boulware will officiate. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Trenton. Military graveside rites will follow.
Open visitation will begin after 10 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002 at the Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home.
Mr. Bailey was born on Sept. 4, 1926, the son of Marze Raymond and Minnie Mary Bate Bailey. He served in the United States Navy during WWII aboard the USS Saratoga. He was married to Dixey Walker on May 12, 1946 in Trenton. He worked for the Rock Island Railroad and later for the Chicago & Northwestern for 44 years. Since retirement he has volunteered delivering meals for 10 years. Mr. Bailey was a member of the Joseph L. Norton Post #919 VFW, Trenton Masonic Lodge, and the Wesley United Methodist Church.
Mr. Bailey is survived by his wife, Dixey, of the home; one son, Kevin Bailey of Trenton; one daughter, Robin Brown of Lawrence, KS; one sister, Frances Keller of St. Joseph; five grandchildren, Kasey, Mitchell and Jason Bailey and Craig and Morgan Brown; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and one sister.
The family has suggested that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimers Foundation or the Wesley United Methodist Church.
