A 22-year-old student at the University of Nebraska, Amber Wendel, is the 11th announced contestant in the Miss Trenton and Miss Green Hills Area scholarship pageants.

A 22-year-old student at the University of Nebraska, Amber Wendel, is the 11th announced contestant in the Miss Trenton and Miss Green Hills Area scholarship pageants.

Miss Wendel is a resident of Lawson and is a junior marketing major in the Lincoln, NE campus. She hopes to pursue a master?s degree in business administration and eventually work for a marketing and advertising corporation.

A 1999 graduate of Lawson High School, she was a cheerleader, honors student and served as president of the Future Business Leaders of America. She was named an All-American Cheerleader for three years and has been both a student and an instructor of gymnastics for several years.

At the University of Nebraska, Miss Wendel is an active member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, participates on the Residence Hall Council and holds membership in the American Marketing Association. She was named a New Nebraska Scholar and is an intramural sports champion.

Miss Wendel will perform an acrobatic dance in the talent portion of the Miss Trenton Pageant. Her pageant platform is ?positive self-esteem for today?s youth.? Miss Wendel is a regular volunteer in the Lincoln public schools as a tutor and an after-school safe home for students mentor.

Miss Wendel joins 10 previously announced contestants for the 2003 Miss Trenton and Miss Green Hills Area scholarship pageants, which will be held Jan. 4 in the Ketcham Community Center on the North Central Missouri College campus. Tickets are on sale at the Trenton Republican-Times newspaper office.
