Funeral services for 81-year-old Olin Meek, a longtime Trenton businessman, will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002 at the First Christian Church in Trenton. Rev. Daryl Mayfield will officiate and will be assisted by Bro. Dan Wilford. Burial will be in the Martin Cemetery, located north of Trenton.

Funeral services for 81-year-old Olin Meek, a longtime Trenton businessman, will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002 at the First Christian Church in Trenton. Rev. Daryl Mayfield will officiate and will be assisted by Bro. Dan Wilford. Burial will be in the Martin Cemetery, located north of Trenton.
A scheduled family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 20, 2002 at the Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home in Trenton.
Mr. Meek passed away at 1 p.m. on Wednesday morning, Dec. 18, 2002 at the St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, where he had been a patient since Dec. 9, 2002.
Mr. Meek was born on Sept. 25, 1921 near Brimson, the son of Frank E. and Mabel G. Cross Meek. He was married to Marilyn Murphy on Jan. 26, 1947 at Trenton. He attended school in Brimson and Edinburg, graduating from Trenton High School in 1939. He was a service station attendant for Galen Neilson of the Neilson Texaco Oil Company for 15 years. He and his brother, Verlin Meek, purchased the business in 1962 and operated it as Meek Brothers Oil Company until their retirement in 1986. Upon his retirement he continued to do lawnmower repair until his death, marking 49 years of being known as “Mr. Lawn Boy.” He and his wife have been members of the First Christian Church in Trenton most of their married lives.
Mr. Meek is survived by his wife, Marilyn Meek of the home in Trenton; two sons, Don Meek and his wife, Terri, of Lee’s Summit and Faron Meek of Blue Springs; one brother, Verlin Meek of Trenton; two grandchildren, Martin and Jennifer of Kansas City; and many nieces and nephews.
The family has suggested that memorial contributions may be made to the Willis Chapel Cemetery or the Martin Cemetery.
