County Salary Commission Plans Meeting
The Grundy County Salary Commission, which is composed of all county elected officials, will meet at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 24.
The commission will be discussing the salaries that are to go into effect Jan. 1, 2003, which are set at 100 percent of the maximum allowed by state statute, which is based on the county?s assessed valuation. Presiding Commissioner Kenny Roberts said that because the county?s assessed valuation will increase, it will trigger an automatic pay raise for the elected officials. There is concern that the county will not have the funds to pay for the raises. If any change is to be made in the maximum salaries, it would require a two-thirds vote of the salary commission.
The total increase, if salaries remain at 100 percent, would be $12,180. Of that amount, four officials are slated to receive raises of $2,000, while one would receive a raise of $1,360, one would receive an increase of $1,320, one would receive an increase of $1,000 and one would receive a $500 increase.
