The Trenton High School girls varsity basketball team fell to Hamilton Wednes-day night in the semifinals of the Gallatin Tourna-ment.

The Lady Bulldogs lost in overtime, 63-57. The Gilman City girls also played in the tournament, defeating Tri-County, 49-43.

Trenton-Hamilton

The Lady Bulldogs took the lead in the first quarter, 14-11. Hamilton came back to tie the game at halftime, 26-26.

?It was a real tight game. Neither team had more than a six-point lead all night,? Head Coach Kris Ockenfels said.

Trenton took a 33-32 lead. at the end of the third quarter The Lady Bulldogs built a six-point advantage with just under two minutes to play. The Lady Hornets managed to tie the game at 57-57 at the end of the fourth quarter, forcing the extra period.

?We led by six points with just under two minutes left,? Ockenfels said. ?We could not find a way to finish them off.?

The free throw line again proved to be a problem for THS. Trenton went 1-for-8 from the charity stripe. Hamilton was able to outscore THS in overtime, 6-0.

Christina Woodard led Trenton with 13 points. Taron Brewer had 11 points and Amber Vandevender and Lindsey Lattimore both added 10 points.

Emily Greenwood led Hamilton with 21 points. Kim Evans had 17 points and Mollie Cole added 10 points.

?We need to play better down the stretch to win these types of ball games,? Ockenfels said.

The Lady Bulldogs fall to 1-2 overall. They will play South Harrison for third place on Saturday at 3 p.m.

Gilman City-Tri-County

Each team managed one strong half of play. The Gilman City girls dominated the first half, jumping out to a 15-10 lead. The Lady Hawks then built their lead to 29-16 in the second quarter.

Tri-County came storming back in the second half as the Lady Mustangs outscored Gilman City in the third quarter, 17-7. Gilman City was able to hold on in the fourth quarter to win the game by six points.

Amber Griffith led Gilman City with 17 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists and three steals. Lindsey Williams had 16 points and five rebounds. Kristin Payne chipped in with 10 points and four rebounds.

Gilman City improves to 1-1 overall and they will play Maysville of the consolation championship on Friday at 7:45 p.m.

Megan Stout led Tri-County with nine points. The Tri-County girls fall to 1-2 overall and will play at 6:15 Friday for seventh place against Winston.
