The Grundy County Commission accepted a bid for the replacement of the R-6 Bridge during its meeting Tuesday.

Boone Construction had the low bid of $306,789.50 for the bridge replacement, which is lower than the engineer?s estimate of $333,138. Five bids were received for the 80/20 federal project.

The commission has decided to donate $6,000 from the Fred Fitch Trust Fund to Children?s Mercy Hospital, with the money to be used for the care of children. Half of the money will go for treatment of children from Grundy County while the other half is for children from Daviess County.

Commissioners were to meet this afternoon with Ken West of Westport Construction of Clinton, which is the contractor for the elevator project now under way at the courthouse.
