J.M. (Jack) Neal, an 87-year-old resident of Lee’s Summit, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002 at the St. John Knox Care Center.

J.M. (Jack) Neal, an 87-year-old resident of Lee’s Summit, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002 at the St. John Knox Care Center.

Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002 at the Jamesport Masonic Cemetery.

Mr. Neal was born on Aug. 16, 1915 in Jamesport, the son of Robert and Anna Neal of Jamesport. He gradauted from Trenton High School and attended Louisiana State University on a football scholarship, where he received all-conference honors. He received a bachelor of science degree. He served in the United States Army as a 2nd Lieutenant Artillery. He had a lifelong career in the Vetinary Medicine Supply business. He enjoyed many years spent with family, friends and working on his farm.

Mr. Neal is survived by his wife, Phyllis, of Lee’s Summit; two sons and their wives, Phil and Mary Alice Neal of Lee’s Summit and Fred and Jacque Neal of Sidney, NE; five grandchildren, Christa Neal Rupp and her husband, David, of Shawnee, KS, Jennifer Neal of Lincoln, NE, Justin Neal of Omaha, NE, Jessica Neal Seymour and her husband, Jason, of Ozark and Matthew Neal of Bozeman, MT; and one great-grandson, Jackson Frederick Rupp.
