Raymond Victor Gender, a 93-year-old native of the Humphreys community, passed away at 9:15 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, 2002 at the Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton, where he had resided since May 16, 2001.

Raymond Victor Gender, a 93-year-old native of the Humphreys community, passed away at 9:15 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, 2002 at the Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton, where he had resided since May 16, 2001.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002 at the Mt. Zion Christian Church south of Humphreys. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
A scheduled family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 o’clock this evening (Monday, Nov. 25, 2002) at the Payne Funeral Home in Galt.
Mr. Gender was born on Nov. 3, 1909 in Sullivan County, the son of Urvin and Dora Williams Gender. He was united in marriage Ila Lee Todd on Feb. 21, 1940. She preceded him in death on Dec. 20, 1964. He as a devoted husband and a kind and loving father who lived his active life on a farm in the Humphreys area. He was an active member of the Mt. Zion Christian Church south of Humphreys and in later years he also attended the Galt and Humphreys Christian Churches.
Mr. Gender is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Victor and Judy Whitford Gender of Humphreys; and two nieces, Joan Horner of Phoenix, AZ and Wilma Barnes of Puyallup, WA.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Gender was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Tillman Gender; and three sisters, Clara Gender, Celeste Crawford and Essa Gender, who died at an early age.
The family has suggested that memorial contributions be made to the Mt. Zion Church or Cemetery.
