Children’s Book Week Activities Planned
Rissler Elementary School students will participate in National Children?s Book Week activities, planned for Nov. 18-24.
Librarian Susan Ward has announced individual events will be held Monday through Friday, promoting the importance of reading. In addition to the individual events, both students and staff will ?drop everything and read? from 8:15 to 8:30 a.m. each day.
Monday will be ?DEAR Season,? in which students are being asked to wear camouflage-colored clothing to celebrate ?Drop Everything and Read Season.? No hats will be allowed.
The color red will be displayed on Tuesday as children show how they are so ?well-read.? During morning physical education time, Mrs. Ward will be asking book-related trivia questions.
Children can wear shirts with photos of wild animals on them on Wednesday in recognition of true books about wild animals being located in the 500?s section of the non-fiction book area.
To remind students and faculty that reading exercises the brain, both groups are invited to wear exercise clothing such as sweatshirts and sweatpants on Thursday. Mrs. Ward will again be asking book-related trivia questions during physical education time.
Activities conclude on Friday when students will be able to dress like their favorite book character. Library helpers will be scouting around with cameras, taking photographs of participants to be displayed at a later time.
