A Trenton youth sustained minor injuries in an accident Friday morning near the intersection of Ninth and Normal streets.
According to a report filed by Trenton Police Sgt. Kris Schmidt, the accident occurred when a sport utility vehicle driven by Robert Howard of 220 Main St., was traveling eastbound on Ninth Street and a bicycle driven by a Trenton youth was traveling in a yard next to Normal Street. The youth, whose name was not released by police, said he saw the SUV, but thinking he had enough time, he went across Ninth Street, traveling into the path of the vehicle. He was struck by Howard?s vehicle and was ejected from the bike.
The youth was taken by Grundy County Ambulance to Wright Memorial Hospital, where he was treated for bruising and released.
There was moderate damage to the bike and minor damage to Howard?s SUV. No tickets were issued in the mishap.
