Charles Larry Robinson, a 66-year-old resident of Unionville, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2002 at the Putnam County Memorial Hospital in Unionville.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002 at 2 p.m. at the Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home in Unionville. Rev. Robert E. Francis will officiate. Vocalist Angie Steele will be accompanied by Mary Susan Scott. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery in Putnam County.
Visitation is in progress at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 o’clock tonight (Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002).
Mr. Robinson was born on June 28, 1936 in Mercer County, the son of Charles Bernard and Esther Marie Snyder Robinson. He was united in marriage on Oct. 26, 1958 to Judy Lightfoot in Spickard. She survives of the home. He grew up in Mercer County and attended the Ravanna grade school. He graduated from the Ravanna High School in 1954. He began working for Howard Contruction following his graduation and was part of the construction of Highway 136 just east of Unionville. In 1958, he entered the U.S. Army Reserve at Ft. Leonard Wood.
In 1962, he and his family moved to Unionville and in 1964 they purchased the O’Reilly Motel which is now known as the Circle R, just west of Unionville. For several years, Mr. Robinson worked for Utility Consultants and following that he worked for 19 years for the Special Road District. He was most recently employed as a market hog driver for Premium Standard Farms, from where he retired in 2001, and just recently began working for the Union Township running their maintainer.
During all of his adult life, he was a livestock farmer and loved his animals, which included horses, dogs and cattle. He was a member and past board member of the Missouri Limousin Breeders Association; past 4-H beef leader; served on the Putnam County Fair Board; past member of the Unionville Lions Club; past member of the Putnam County Cattleman’s Association; and a member of the Ravanna Baptist Church. He enjoyed being outdoors and spending time bird and coon hunting. But most of all he enjoyed his grandchildren and took an active role in their lives and sporting events.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Robinson is survived by one daughter, Mashelle Trimble and her husband, Jim, of Unionville; two sons, Scott Robinson and his wife, Patti, of Unionville and Andy Robinson of Columbia and his fiance, Jan James of Edina, two brothers, Jack Robinson and his wife, Helen, of Princeton and Stan Robinson and his wife, Helen, of Princeton; one sister, Catherine Geophrich of Holt; three grandchildren, Kristine Robinson and Justin and Jenika Trimble of Unionville; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by his parents and a step-mother, Doris Robinson.
