The ?One Community, One Book? project is currently under way in Grundy County and will feature an appearance by the Parasol Puppets this Sunday afternoon.

?The Magic Teapot? will be presented during a 2 p.m performance in the Hoover Community Theater, located on the third floor of the Grundy County-Jewett Norris Library.

The book chosen for the One Community, One Book project is ?A Farewell to Manzanar.? The book is a true story of life in a Japanese internment camp during World War II. The puppet show to be presented also provides a Japanese flavor. The fairy tale is about a magic teapot that comes to life amidst Japanese music and paper lanterns. the program is designed for family groups and includes both Oriental music and dance as well as allows the audience to learn to cheer in Japanese.

Debbie Lutzky Allen and Peter Allen comprise the Parasol Puppets. Ms. Allen has been performing and teaching puppetry since 1979. Together, the couple has performed and taught the art of puppetry since 1987, while living in Hawaii. In 1997, the Allens moved to rural Jamesport and have been active in the entertainment industry, traveling the United States.

Immediately following the puppet show, two young people with Trenton connections will share other forms of Oriental culture. Martha Sager will present an origami demonstration and Toby Havens will demonstrate both martial arts and music on the bamboo flute. Persons of all ages should enjoy each of these presentations and parent involvement is encouraged with the hands-on demonstrations.

There is no admission charge for the Sunday afternoon program.
