Laredo Board Holds Meeting
The Laredo R-7 Board of Education met Monday night, discussing the possibility of leasing a bus, announcing the hiring of an aide and discussing the possibility of raising admission prices to basketball games.
According to information provided by Principal Shawn Schultz, the board met with Bud Cox of Hill Transportation about the options for contracting for a bus. Currently, the district owns their buses, but it was decided that if the need arises for contracting a bus, bids would be sought, including a bid from Hill Transportation.
Schultz reported that prior to offering a gifted program, students who were formerly designated as gifted would need to be tested to be sure they still qualify. Other students may also be referred to the program. It was announced that the district has hired Theresa Gibson of Trenton to serve as a half-day aide, helping in the special education classroom and the second grade classroom.
In other business, the board examined the installation of the new gym floor and discussed raising the admission prices for basketball games. No increase was approved. It was noted that H-H Services Roofing Company is currently performing the waterproofing for the gym roof and the cafeteria roof. Schultz also reported that one of the areas in the Annual Performance Report for the district has not been decided by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. When this area is corrected, it will be reported.
The next regular board meeting is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 11.
