The Grundy County Commission viewed a presentation on mapping systems and voted to change its long distance carrier during its meeting Tuesday.
County Clerk L.D. Gibson said the commission went to Trenton City Hall to view a demonstration on mapping by Midland GSI Solutions of Maryville. The mapping system, if purchased, would be used for the county assessor?s office, as well as 911. No decision has been made concerning the purchase of a new mapping system.
In other business, the commission, voted to change its long distance carrier to CGI Long Distance, noting that the county can save around $100 per month by making the change. Currently the county uses Sprint and Southwestern Bell for long distance service. Commissioners also met with Herb Bailey of Bartlett and West Engineers, who expressed an interest in doing the engineering work on the county?s off-system 80-20 bridges.
