The Princeton City Council met in regular session Monday evening, discussing a reduction in gas prices and approving several items.

According to City Clerk Keri Stamper, the council met with Linda Valentine of Utility Consultants, Inc., which purchases the natural gas used by city utility customers. Ms. Valentine said a six-cent reduction in gas prices is planned, reducing the rate to 68 cents per cubic foot. The new rate will be reflected on the November bill.

In other business, the council approved a caterer?s license for Rudy?s Bar for Nov. 1-2 and approved two additional service contracts for Calamity Jane Days, including $100 to the Trenton Marching Band and $300 to a polka band from Wisconsin. The council approved allowing Ms. Stamper and office assistant Jamie Rardon to attend a computer user group meeting in Kansas City on Nov. 14, as well as allowing Derry Auction to use the Mercer County Fair barn for a consignment auction. Final business included meeting with Judy Woodward of the Princeton Housing Authority to discuss the possible purchase of a city-owned lot in the downtown area for additional parking for the housing authority.

The next regular meeting is scheduled for Nov. 4.
