?Bulldog Paradise? is the theme of the 2002 Trenton High School Homecoming, with activities, sponsored by the THS Student Council, to swing into full force on Monday, Oct. 14.

Spirit Week will begin with ?John Wayne Day? on Monday, when students are encouraged to dress up in cowboy attire or any attire John Wayne wore in his films. Tuesday is ?Favorite Character or Hero Day? and students will dress like their favorite character from the big screen, TV, cartoons or books. Wednesday is ?Gender Bender Day? at THS, with students to dress like the opposite sex. On Thursday, students are asked to dress in jerseys or sports shirts representing their favorite professional or college team. Friday is the traditional ?Black and Gold? Day. In addition to dressing up, classes will also have a hall decorating contest.

Beginning at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17, the fall sports teams and cheerleaders will be introduced by their coaches in activities scheduled at C.F. Russell Stadium. Following the introductions, the 2002 royalty will be introduced, with a queen and princess to be announced. Candidates for homecoming queen are seniors Lindsey Lattimore, Casey Hahn, Erin Peters and Megan Bosley. The girls will be escorted by seniors Joel Peace, Eric Hoffman, Philip Elliott and Kinnison McKay. Princess candidates are junior Abby Lovell, who will be escorted by Jordan Ferguson; sophomore Jenna Owens, who will be escorted by Joe Blackburn; and freshman Adriane Hoffman, who will be escorted by Justin Anderson. Crownbearers will be Tenna Roberts, daughter of Ronnie and Martha Roberts, and Hannah Robinson, daughter of Craig and Sharalyn Robinson.

The homecoming parade will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, with a route from North Central Missouri College, continuing on Main Street to Ninth Street and going east to McDonalds. Harry Wheeler, retiring superintendent of the Trenton R-9 Schools, will serve as the grand marshal. Rissler Elementary School students will be dismissed at 12:50 p.m. that day, with THS and Trenton Middle School students to be dismissed at 1 p.m.

The Trenton Bulldogs will take on the St. Joseph LeBlond Eagles in a 7 p.m. contest on Friday night. Prior to the kickoff, the 2002 queen and princess will again by introduced along with their court. The girls will be escorted across the 50-yard line by their fathers, with the THS marching band, under the direction of Tim Gilham, and the colorguard, under the direction of Barb Spencer, assisting with the introductions. Members of the THS Choir, under the direction of Megan Albaugh, will sing the National Anthem.

Night Magic of Wathena, KS, has been hired to DJ the Homecoming Dance, which will be held from 8 to 11 p.m.. Saturday, Oct. 19 in the THS gym. Pictures and refreshments will be available in the commons. The admission cost is $3.
